Now What?

Simple answer: heck if I know.

Jk. I got big big plans.

So, the race is over. I am home. What happens now? Back to Central America BAYBEE!!!

I have always known that I wanted to live in Central America in the future. I have always felt called to the language, the culture, the people, all of it. Ever since my first mission trip back in high school, I knew. I picked this route with the World Race because they went to Central America. I knew that I was called there, but had no idea where or how to start out. During my time in Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua this year I fell in love with the culture so much more. It became increasingly evident that that region is where I want to stay. I worked with some incredible ministries doing so much good in the places that needed it most. I spent the whole time asking the Lord to highlight to me where He wanted me in the future. I knew Central America, but that was pretty broad. I prayed that He would show me where and with what ministry.

When we arrived in Nicaragua I absolutely fell in love with House of Hope, the ministry that rescues women and their children out of sex trafficking and prostitution, gives them homes, and tells them about Jesus all the while. Being there just felt so right. It was hot and sweaty, without A/C or running water, full of fire ants and bug bites, but still, it felt right. I couldn’t stop thinking about it as soon as we left. Basically the rest of the race I was trying to figure out how to get back there. I got in touch with the woman from the U.S. that created the ministry. I told her my passions and giftings and she could not have been more excited to have me come on as a volunteer. She does not have anyone on the ground in Nicaragua that speaks English, so she wants to use me A LOT.

She wants me to teach an English class, translate for missionary teams, take the kids on field trips and plan loads of fun for them each week. She also wants to use my photography to help gain more sponsors for the women and children. I went there in August, only one month after coming home from being gone for a year and she put me right to work. I spent two weeks taking thousands of photos and videos for the ministry while playing with the kiddos every chance I got. I led “ninja training” every night which was kinda just like Crossfit, lots of running and climbing on random stuff. It was so much fun! It was so sweet when they all remembered me from my last trip.

I CANNOT WAIT to return to Nicaragua. Honestly, I’m only home to save up and maybe fundraise a bit before going there. My heart is there, my calling is there, every day spent here kinda just feels like a waste. But I am grateful for quality time with my family before I head out for another year abroad. That being said, I am committing to a full year in Managua, Nicaragua with this ministry. I will live in an apartment nearby and take tuktuk taxis every morning in time for daily devotionals with the women. I am thrilled. I will be raising money to cover food, transportation, and housing for this year as I do what God has called me into. I made a website with a different blog, because if you donate on here I will never see that money. Donations made on my World Race blog will just be given straight to the World Race since I am no longer affiliated with them. I figured it would be best to clear all that up as soon as possible. So here’s my new website where I will be continuing to update everyone on my missions work: kaleymoorhead.wixsite.com/my-site

All of my subscribers to this blogs will automatically be added to the new one as well and you will continue to receive email updates. Again, I will start fundraising again soon so if you have been inspired by my stories this year and want to keep it going, you can donate one time or monthly or whatever you want on the new website. Please do not donate to me on the World Race website. I mean, if you want to donate to the organization, go for it, but I just want to be super clear that it does not support my further missions.

Thank you all for sticking with me all year! I can’t wait to see what God does next in and through my life in Nicaragua. Keep praying for me y’all!

Lord, use me.
